Katherine and I became friends after discovering a shared love of pop music. We had always wanted to make music, but were never that great at it. So we turned our talents towards sharing what we consider to be good music.
Some people argue we have terrible taste – we'd beg to differ.

WHAT THE HELL IS A "BLAND BEAT"?

Blandbeats is not a poorly seasoned beet – it is a series of playlists curated by Katherine Gannon and myself on Spotify.
 

WHY SPOTIFY PLAYLISTS?

Our iMessages overloaded from sending each other daily screenshots and links to new albums, songs, and artists we'd come across. Spotify's collaborative playlists were an easier way to share, collect, and navigate it all – not to mention free up some memory on our phones in the process.
 

WHEN DID "BLANDBEATS" BEGIN?

Blandbeats was born during the summer of 2016 when I was interning in San Francisco and Katherine was in NYC. An unintended consequence of this new mode of sharing: not blowing up Katherine's phone when I got overexcited after discovering a new Terror Jr song at 11pm PST, forgetting it was 2 am in NYC.
 

WHY "BLAND"?

 I once (jokingly) produced a song that was politely described as bland – we decided to embrace that.
